Book Recommendation: Between Two Worlds

Telling compelling stories is a valuable hashtag#leadership hashtag#skill, and trainings abound on how to tell them well. I’ve taken a few, and yet many of the “key takeaways” somehow got away!

While technically a memoir, “Between Two Kingdoms” offers excellent learning for anyone who aspires to hashtag#communicate a message that resonates.

Suleika Jaouad excels in:

* Investing the reader in the hashtag#journey through self-awareness and honesty. The journey from illness to health is well-known. However, the way Jaouad shares her interior life draws the reader – this reader! – nose-to-nose with the text. Example: “It is possible for me to alter the course of my becoming.”

* Using vivid language to describe all aspects of her experience. Whether describing an emotion or a landscape, Jaouad’s descriptions are captivating. Example: “The night sky is powdered with more stars than I’ve ever seen in my life.”

🙋🏽‍♀️Before concluding that the memoir genre, particularly from a creative, is irrelevant to hashtag#business hashtag#communication, ask yourself: do I want the listener to remember and be moved by what I said?

🙋🏽‍♀️Before investing in a communications consultant, ask yourself: do I have $20 and an afternoon for a great book?

From this reader who loves compelling communication, I hope the answers are yes and yes.
